Kaunas district is a land of nature contrasts and growing business prospects. District area is 1496 sq km. Population is 85.4 thousands. It is one of the most densely populated districts in Lithuania (population density 57 people / sq km).
Kaunas district administrative institutions are settled in Kaunas city. Kaunas is the second biggest city in Lithuania (area 157 sq km; population 359.3 thousands). Kaunas is situated in the centre of Lithuania, at the confluence of the two biggest rivers Nemunas and Neris, 100 km from the capital Vilnius and 250 km from the port city Klaipeda.
