Sakiai district is situated in the south-west of Lithuania. District area is 1453 sq km. Population is 37 thousands. The district has 14 smaller units called seniunijos. District administrative centre is Sakiai town (population 6.7 thousands), located at the distance of 61 km to the west from Kaunas city.
There are more than 200 culture monuments in the district.
